CMT Kix Brooks Artist Profile
As a relatively young Film Commission, we have just begun to attract films. Northeast Louisiana was the site for ESPN's "Varsity, Inc.", a documentary series about a local high school football team's quest for a state championship. The series aired in the fall of 2007. A second season is in the works and will be filmed in Louisiana due to the good experience the crew had in Northeast Louisiana. Here are a few quotes from Jason Geigerman with Horizon Entertainment and Productions:
"The football atmosphere was perfect for what we needed in West Monroe, not to mention the beautiful scenery. The hospitality shown to us made us want to never leave. The perfect town for our production."
"The people in West Monroe will do anything to make you feel at home. Our production there was a pleasure because of their hospitality and the beautiful scenery surrounding the town. We loved it."
Other projects have included a Tim McGraw music video and a film on Grambling's White Tiger. TruTV's "Suburban Secrets" shot an episode here last spring, and our universities are often the site for live coverage of sports events for ESPN, CSTV, Cox Sports, and other sports networks. Local film and television professionals work all over the state and the country on live, film, and taped productions.
